F1 - United States GP - Race

Hello MiniFans!

The United States Grand Prix is over and with the championship still open for both Mercedes drivers, we must say that after a first boring half of the race, we really enjoyed the battle for the 5th place of the race. Want to know what happened during the race? Keep reading!

Lewis Hamilton finally made a good start and kept the first position after the first lap, while Nico Rosberg lost the second position with Daniel Ricciardo. We saw a crash between Hulkenberg and Bottas but the big one was between Kvyat and Perez, where the Toro Rosso driver caused the Mexican to spin and this was used for Fernando Alonso overtaking both drivers and entering the top 10.

During the first part we haven't seen so many action except some overtakes from the McLaren guys  and Verstappen attacking Raikkonen, overtaking him without problems. The first retirement came from Esteban Gutiérrez who had problems with his Haas, but the big one came with Verstappen because his car stuck on 1st gear and made half of the track with a very slow car, retiring at the last sector, causing a virtual safety-car that changed the race (but hey... at least he won the Driver of the day contest). During the VSC Nico Rosberg pitted and put another stint of medium tyres with an angry Ricciardo behind him.

During the last laps of the race we saw a fast Fernando Alonso who was chasing Felipe Massa, who was also chasing Carlos Sainz, we had a triple battle for the 5th position of the race and just a few laps left. Alonso caught Massa and overtook him touching him but there was no action done between both drivers. On the final lap Alonso caught Sainz and overtook him thanks to the DRS.

Apart of that, Lewis Hamilton won the United States GP and it's his 50th victory in F1. Nico Rosberg finished in 2nd position and has the first matchball for the Mexico GP. The third position was for Daniel Ricciardo and the top 10 was completed by Vettel, Alonso, Sainz, Massa, Pérez, Button and Grosjean.

Races will continue next week with the Mexico GP. Are we going to enjoy a more exciting race? Will Rosberg win the championship or will the things change? We will know very soon but until then... Be mini-good!
