MotoGP - Malaysian GP - Qualifying
Hello MiniFans!
MotoGP is back another weekend with the penultimate round of the championship with the Malaysian GP, race that last year was really polemic but that we hope that we will get fun this time. We just saw the qualifying round a few minutes ago and we know the starting grid for tomorrow. Wanna know what happened? Keep reading!
Time to start the first qualifying round at Sepand after the rain that we had at the start of the day and with a slippery track we had Baz and Miller on top during the first minutes with Critchlow being the first rider to crash. Bad also crashed in one of his attempts while Critchlow, winner the last week at Phillip Island, was now second after improving on his lap. On his new lap, Crutchlow now took the first position and Baz has to think if he must do a lap or not. Chequered flag just when the rain started to appear at the pitlane and no one could improve the time of the top 2 riders so Crutchlow and Baz will go to Q2 while the lower part of the grid will be completed by Smith, Miller, Petrucci, Aoyama, Bradl, Redding, Laverty, Hernández and Rabat.
Time to start the second session of qualifying and like in old times Lorenzo had Barbera on his rear tyre. Dovizioso made the best time on his first attempt, being also the only rider who was using the soft tyre. Marquez made a good lap and finished ahead of Rossi, something that Lorenzo also made. Crutchlow came really fast but he crashed on turn 11, losing the chance for fighting for the first positions for tomorrow.
Lorenzo improved on his lap and was really close to Dovizioso's time. Aleix Espargaró also crashed on his lap while we saw how Crutchlow could return to the track. Dovizioso made even a fastest lap than the one that he had.
Chequered flag and Andrea Dovizioso took the pole position at the Malaysian GP with both Yamaha riders on first row with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. The rest of the Q1 grid was completed by Marquez, Crutchlow, Iannone, Aleix, Viñales, Bautista, Baz, Pol and Barbera.
Tomorrow if it's raining Dovizioso has a chance to get the victory at Malaysia but everything can happen. Who do you think will win? See you MiniFans and remember... Be mini-good!
